"Slice of Life"

As for this photograph, during the time of this shot, I realize I've shot only specific emotions that we remember, but not necessarily experience daily.  So for this picture, I decided to just shoot a picture that just captures a normal moment of a regular day (however, this would probably pass as a normal "snapshot" now that I look at this).

I should of taken a much more expansive shot, but I would of probably needed a fish-eye lens to pull off the concept of the shot.

"Consumed"

This was another take on the emotion of being "Overwhelmed", however with a greater focus on objects to give the meaning to the picture.  The unfocused books in the foreground suggest a meaning of being overwhelmed and Chase reading the gargantuan book suggests the slow pace of progress.

This continues the development of my theme with the expansion of incorporating objects into my pictures.

"Pride & Confidence"

With this photo, I tried for a 3/4 profile angle of the model with an overpowering highlight on the face to emphasize the aspect of "Pride" (often associated with an overabundance of confidence).  The chain link pattern of the metal fence represents something of a "net", as in being prideful entraps you from realizing any shortcomings or mistakes of yourself.  The rusty part of the chain on the fence is symbolic for corruption.

This photograph focuses more on the symbolic meaning of the setting and lighting.
The sun was too bright the day this was shot, so it was difficult for the model to grin without squinting due to the blinding brightness.  In retrospective, it may have been better to have the model wear sunglasses.

Trust & Friendship

In this photograph, I specifically positioned the models and the angle of the shot so that it seemed to have a dividing force between them (the tree and the line between the benches, however the taller posts of the metal fence couldn't of been positioned correctly).  From here, I digitally edited the photograph by creating two layers, the background being desaturated (to inspire a "cold feeling" of the world) and to keep the two models in character (to emphasize them and to emphasize that friendships with others stands out in the bleak routine of normal life).

This photograph is one of the more photoshop dependent ideas I have attempted to pursue, with a higher focus on the colors of the picture.

"Curiosity"
This photograph is another take on the human trait of "Curiosity".  My first photograph used the pose of the famous sculpture, "The Thinker", heavily associated with human pondering.  So with this pose, the model did the "head-scratching" pose along with open eyes to also represent human pondering and clarity of mind.

This photograph develops my theme with a focus of negative space and that it departs from my standard "full face" shots.
