Trust & Friendship

In this photograph, I specifically positioned the models and the angle of the shot so that it seemed to have a dividing force between them (the tree and the line between the benches, however the taller posts of the metal fence couldn't of been positioned correctly).  From here, I digitally edited the photograph by creating two layers, the background being desaturated (to inspire a "cold feeling" of the world) and to keep the two models in character (to emphasize them and to emphasize that friendships with others stands out in the bleak routine of normal life).

This photograph is one of the more photoshop dependent ideas I have attempted to pursue, with a higher focus on the colors of the picture.

"Curiosity"
This photograph is another take on the human trait of "Curiosity".  My first photograph used the pose of the famous sculpture, "The Thinker", heavily associated with human pondering.  So with this pose, the model did the "head-scratching" pose along with open eyes to also represent human pondering and clarity of mind.

This photograph develops my theme with a focus of negative space and that it departs from my standard "full face" shots.

"Irritation"

As always, the title of the piece (in this case, "Irritation") is what this picture attempts to portray.  I chose this location for the dynamic sense of lighting and shadows, adding to the "intensity" of the shot (however, it is still rather "mild").  I heavily focused on the power of the lighting and general warm color scheme to give the "feeling" to the piece.

Trying to stay away from dark pieces (however, looking back in retrospective, this emotion may have been better portrayed that way), I shot this picture with the idea of colors [of the setting, I may of wanted to changed the model's clothes though] to show this part of the theme of emotions.

"Solitude"

In this photograph, I sought to portray the loneliness we sometimes experience in our lives (this is especially dramatized in teenagers today).  I focused on the use of Depth of Field to emphasize the sense of vastness and space within the picture.  I also chose the benches as the setting, as it is usually associated with being a busy area, popular with people.

This picture continues my theme of emotions, but with this photograph, I attempted to make the setting and pose of the model more substantial to the meaning of the shot.

"Dissonance"
This photograph being another take on the emotion of "Melancholy".  I let the light shine partially onto the palm of his hand to grab attention towards his fingers, which disperses the direction of the viewer's..."view" around the model.

"Faint Animosity"

For this photograph, I sought to show the emotion of resentment, one of the lower levels of anger we often experience.  With this idea, I left my model (Shelton Deguzman) enclosed in shadow (a subtle reference to the "lurking in the shadows" concept)  gripping a crumpled paper crane.  However, the hand gripping the the paper crane (which is deformed to the point of being unrecognizable) is unfocused to leave the object of his resentment as an abstract idea, also enclosed in light to create a contrast between my model and the "idea".  Also, I decided make the color a bit saturated to make it more "vivid", as viewers often view more vivid colors as "passionate", in comparison to a desaturated "cold" and "detached' picture.

For this, I didn't really change my idea and concept, but I decided to include objects in my picture to help emphasize the emotion, rather than solely relying on the model themselves.

As a side note:  I got a rather large papercut on my middle finger on my left hand making the paper crane :(.  It makes grabbing things uncomfortable and it sometimes hurt to type.  No bueno :(

Boredom

As it's title suggests, the aim of this photograph was to portray boredom.  I left Brian's arms in a loop (to very vaguely) represent endlessness and repetition, traits of boredom.  I had this picture in Black & White to present the "world" of the photograph in monotone, boring and lacking in "color" (literally and metaphorically).

This was one of the "negative emotions", still contributing towards my theme of emotions/expressions.
I tried for a shot that strayed away from my commonly-used "up close face-shot" angle in all of my other pictures, but I could of tried for a more interesting angle.  I'll continue to ponder about how to compose my shots in a more dynamic fashion.
